HOLLYWOOD, Md. – On February 8, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to Hollywood Road near McIntosh Road for a severe single motor vehicle accident with fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services, SUV off the roadway, fully engulfed in flames, after colliding with a tree. The two male occupants, aged 35 and 37, managed to escape from the vehicle, but sustained injuries.

Both patients were flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

The Maryland State Police continue to investigate the cause of the incident.

  1. There are too many accidents with people going off of the road for “unexplained reasons”. Too many people hurt. And too many that have died. All with the same story. They went off of the road and hit something for “an explained reason”. Or, they went head on in to another vehicle coming the other way. What can be done to stop this madness? Thankfully these folks survived. Will the next person be as lucky? I truly hope so. But, hitting a tree or another car is usually fatal.

    1. EXACTLY!! EVERYDAY a different accident, broad daylight, dry roads, it’s getting out of control. PEOPLE NEED TO PAY ATTENTION!!!
