On September 17 at 12:34 p.m. Dep. B. Schaefer responded to the area of Comstock Drive in Lusby for the report of a suspicious vehicle.ย The complainant had advised that the vehicle was traveling at a very low speed.ย The vehicle then stopped and one of the two occupants got out of the truck and walked up to a residence on Comstock Drive.ย The subject then saw the complainant and returned to the vehicle, which then left the area.ย
Dep. Schaefer canvased the area to locate the vehicle and found it sitting in front of a residence on Waco Court.ย The truck was unoccupied.ย Schaefer looked inside the truck and observed several tools including a crow bar and screw driver.ย Schaefer then canvased the area attempting to locate the two occupants.ย
Shortly thereafter she observed the suspect truck traveling on San Antonio Drive and conducted a traffic stop.ย The passenger, identified as Carrie Marie Tiller, 34 of Clinton, was found to have an open warrant through Charles County and was placed under arrest.ย During a search of the vehicle, jewelry, coins and tools as well as suspected drugs were found.ย The driver, identified as David Rice Atchison, 34 of Accokeek, was placed under arrest.ย
Several hours later a homeowner on Waco Court called police and advised that her home had just been burglarized.ย Coins and jewelry, matching the description of that found in the suspectโs vehicle, had been taken from the home.ย One piece of jewelry located in the vehicle was discovered to belong to a victim in a possible burglary in Mechanicsville.
Atchison and Tiller were both charged with first degree burglary, third degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, rogue and vagabond, possession of cocaine, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; a digital scale and a plastic baggie.
