UPDATE – More details have begun to emerge regarding this evening’s events. After a child’s birthday party with roughly 30 people in attendance, the 7-year-old reportedly jumped in the pool and began to drown. Her father, the 44-year-old previously mentioned, jumped in after her and also proceeded to drown.
Two other individuals reportedly jumped in after this, one of which also began to struggle. Fire and EMS personnel had to remove all four from the pool.
The girl and her father have been pronounced deceased, and the 17-year-old is still in critical condition, as reported by 7News(WJLA). The fourth person received treatment on the scene.
The identities of the victims are expected to be released sometime tomorrow, according to 7News.
WALDORF, Md. — We have received reports that this afternoon, there were multiple drownings that happened at a pool in Charles County.
At approximately 6 p.m. on May 1, fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to the 1200 block of Jefferson Lane in Waldorf for the reported drowning. Upon arrival, crews removed a 7-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and a 44-year-old man from the pool, and began to immediately administer CPR.
Reports indicate that the two males jumped into the water, in an attempt to save the girl from drowning.
All three were eventually transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
