Charles County:
VanGO to Operate on Schedule Monday, December 27

Charles County:ย Due to inclement weather conditions, all Charles County Public Schools activities scheduled for Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, have been canceled.

St. Mary’s County:ย Liberal Leave will be in effect on Monday, December 27th for County Government.

St. Maryโ€™s County Convenience Centers, STS Transit open at noon Dec. 27

St. Mary’s County: All public STS routes will operate starting at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 27th, 2010, including the ADA routes. ย There willl be no transportation for the SSTAP program or for the Senior Centers.ย 

St. Mary’s County: The Before and After School Program at Hollywood and Mechanicsville Recreation Centers are closed for the day; GREAT MILLS POOL early bird lap swim and morning aerobics are cancelled. An announcement regarding the pool opening at noon will be made no later than 9:00 a.m.; GYMNASTICS CENTER morning team practice is cancelled. An announcement regarding evening team practice will be made no later than 9:00 a.m.

Calvert County: Due to inclement weather, all Calvert County Public School Activities for Monday, December 27, ย are cancelled.

The Winter Storm on Dec. 26 is continuing through Sunday evening and a total snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches is expected. St. Maryโ€™s Countyโ€™s Senior Activity Centers will be open, although no congregate meals, Meals on Wheels or Senior Transportation will be provided on Dec. 27. The STS Transit System and the Convenience Centers will open at noon on Dec. 27. The Before and After School program at Hollywood and Mechanicsville Recreation Centers are closed Dec. 27. The Great Mills Pool early bird lap swim and morning aerobics are cancelled.

High winds will continue with gusts up to 45 mph on Monday, which could increase power outages.
Emergency Advisories will be posted to the St. Maryโ€™s County Government website at www.stmarysmd.com and added to the countyโ€™s emergency phone line at 301-475-4911. The National Weather Service posts weather designations at www.weather.gov.A Winter Storm Warning for all of Southern Maryland remains in effect until 2 AM Monday. Sustained winds between 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected and will increase blowing snow issues and will decrease visibility during the snow event.

Due to strong winds, citizens are urged to remain off roadways when possible because travel may be very hazardous and visibility may be limited. ย ย ย
