UPDATE – Report from Calvert County Sheriff’s Office released Monday, Aug. 15
Huntingtown, MD – On August 13, 2016 at approximately 6:36 p.m. , Calvert County Sheriffโs Office Deputy Rediker observed a silver Subaru traveling at a high rate of speed on Hunting Creek Road. Deputy Rediker turned around and attempted to catch up to the vehicle. Rediker observed the vehicle turning on to Lowery Road from Bowie Shop Road in what appeared to be an attempt to elude him. Rediker activated his emergency equipment and the vehicle failed to stop for the marked CCSO vehicle.ย
A slow speed vehicle pursuit continued (approx. 40 MPH) until the vehicle pulled into the driveway of 2175 Hunting Creek Road. Rediker contacted the driver of the vehicle and identified him as Christopher Milstead, ย 29 of Huntingown. Milstead was placed under arrest by Rediker.
During the course of these events, a female and an elderly male approached Rediker and the subject he had in custody. The elderly male and the female became very disorderly, making threats towards Rediker.ย A struggle ensued with the elderly male, who was identified as Terry Francis Milstead, 65, also of Huntingtown. At some point during the struggle a female, Tracy Romine, 28, also intervened. Rediker was distracted by the driver trying to get up when Milstead ย fled back into the house while making threats to shoot deputies. A barricade was declared.
Numerous resources were deployed to the scene of the barricade. Arriving units quickly established a perimeter and the scene was secured.ย Sgt Bortchevsky, a CCSO negotiator, arrived a short time later and began negotiations with Terry Milstead.ย At approximately 7:21 p.m., Milstead exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Numerous firearms were located in the residence and were placed in property held for safe-keeping. Terry Milstead was transported to CMH to be evaluated for a bump on his head. No deputies were injured and no vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.
Christopher Milstead was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction, failure to Obey and traffic charges.ย
Terry Milstead was charged with hindering, disorderly, second-degree assault and assault on a police officer. Tracy Romine was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction and failing to obey. All were transported to the detention center to await a hearing before a District Court commissioner.
UPDATE – 9:20 p.m.
Huntingtown, MD – Police in Calvert County had their hands full during the early-evening hours of Friday, Aug. 12. The series of incidents occurred at a residence on Hunting Creek Road at Warren Gibson Road in Huntingtown shortly before 7 p.m.
Calvert County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Captain Todd Ireland told The BayNet the incident began as a slow-speed pursuit, which concluded at a residence. Details of what occurred after that are still sketchy. However, during the ensuing fracas a deputy was assaulted, an unidentified male threatened to get a gun and shoot police officers, and subsequently the incident became a barricade situation.
Ireland reported that two people were arrested. The charges have not been divulged at this time. A dog was also taken from the scene by the Animal Control Unit.
The extent of any injuries sustained by the deputy who was assaulted is not known at this time.
A full report on the incident, which was finally resolved around 8:30 p.m. is expected later this weekend.
