La Plata, MD – A vehicle fire that was reported Monday evening, April 10 in Charles County remains under investigation, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze on Wheatley Road in La Plata was reported by the vehicle’s owner shortly before 10 p.m. The fire caused $1,400 damage to a 1999 Honda Accord. An agency report identified the vehicle’s owner as Carmen Torres.
The fire originated in the rear of the Honda. Four firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in five minutes. There were no injuries.
“The incident is currently under investigation,” a deputy fire marshal’s report stated. “Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6831.”
