A golf cart is a very valuable commodity at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. With the golf carts, staff members transport residents who are unable to get around the facility. But according to Activities Director Bonnie Pelletier, the residents also enjoy golf cart rides over to the Charles Hall Library and the adjacent farmerโ€™s market. Pelletier said they enjoy the wind blowing in their hair, the sights of the countryside surrounding the home and the smell of the honeysuckle. It enhances their experience at the home by having such sensory stimulation instead of being inside all the time.

The Activities Department had two golf carts. But age got the best of them and they had to be retired. As has happened so many other times when the veteranโ€™s home was in need, local veterans organizations came to the rescue.

On Saturday a truck pulled up to the veteranโ€™s home and out came a brand new golf cart, which was provided by Metro Golf Park of Brandywine at a very reasonable cost. Along with the cart were representatives of four of the organizations that provided the money to purchase the cart. The organizations were:
