Students and staff of William B. Wade Elementary School are a team, said Principal Kevinย Jackson.

โ€œThere is one team, one goal. Weโ€™re Team Excellence,โ€ he said. โ€œExcellence is not aย destination, itโ€™s a process.โ€

To drum up enthusiasm at a pep rally at William B. Wade, pep experts were called in. Westlake

High School cheerleaders led the crowd in the cheer โ€œLetโ€™s go, Wildcatsโ€ as the band played.On Aug. 22 โ€” the first day back for returning teachers โ€” Wade held a pep rally to drum upย enthusiasm for the upcoming year. It got an assist from Westlake High Schoolโ€™s marching band,ย flag team and cheerleaders.ย 

Jackson said the invite to Westlake students was a no-brainer. Members of Westlakeโ€™s Classย of 2016 came by the school for a Parade of Success before graduation to encourage the youngerย students to stay in school, why not ask Westlake to come back and inspire teachers?

By strengthening the bonds between schools, a community is built, Jackson said. โ€œAnd asย good as we are,โ€ he said. โ€œWe can get better.โ€
