Waldorf house fire leaves one dog dead

WALDORF, Md. – On January 15 at 10:23 a.m., units responded to a dispatch call for a house fire located on Valery Court of Waldorf.

Initial reports stated that one subject and one dog were trapped in the house. Arriving units reported that flames were not visible from the house but it was filled with smoke caused by a kitchen fire. As crews were responding, the subject was able to escape the house but the dog was still inside.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found the dog deceased.
