LA PLATA, Md. — With smiles, new shoes and hearts full of hope, Jamaur Law, founder of the Waldorf-based Jamaur Law Foundation, joined Soles4Souls earlier this month on a service trip to Antigua, Guatemala, helping provide nearly 800 children with footwear in just two days.

The trip, held Jan. 8–12, 2026, was hosted by Soles4Souls and brought together educators, social workers and nonprofit leaders from across the country as part of the 4EveryKid network. The group united around a shared commitment to serve children experiencing homelessness and poverty—demonstrating that compassion knows no borders.

Soles4Souls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to turning shoes and clothing into opportunity by distributing essential items and supporting micro-enterprise efforts around the world. Through partnerships like 4EveryKid, the organization helps children feel seen, valued and supported.

In just two days, the team helped size and distribute new shoes to hundreds of children—each pair symbolizing dignity, comfort and hope. The group also visited local communities, climbed Volcán Pacaya, and shared meals with Guatemalan families, building relationships across borders.

The Jamaur Law Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Waldorf, works year-round to close the wealth gap experienced by marginalized populations through financial education and holistic youth programming. Its focus is on empowering students to build systems of savings, financial responsibility and long-term economic stability—especially in under-resourced communities in the Washington metropolitan area.

During the trip, Law and fellow participants distributed shoes to children, climbed Volcán Pacaya, and shared meals and conversations with local families. Each moment was a reminder of the dignity and hope that simple acts of kindness can bring.

“This experience reminded us that while we may come from different places, our purpose is the same: to show up for children when it matters most,” Law said.

The journey also included collaborative discussions around strengthening national efforts to serve vulnerable students in the United States. Participants reflected on the importance of empathy, inclusion and sustained support for children and families facing homelessness.

The 4EveryKid network, supported by Soles4Souls, empowers community leaders to meet the unique needs of students experiencing homelessness through direct services and advocacy. Law, a longtime youth advocate, continues to expand his impact both locally and nationally through education, mentorship and outreach programs.
