Waldorf, Md. โ€“ A fire broke out early Saturday morning in Waldorf, engulfing a detached shed garage at a residence on Hood Road. Emergency responders were dispatched to Hood Road near Wendy Lane just after 6:00 a.m. following reports of visible smoke and flames spreading towards nearby trees.

According to dispatch, a caller reported the fire from behind the house, noting that the structure was fully involved by the time units arrived. Firefighters quickly worked to contain the flames and prevent further damage to surrounding properties.

Neighboring residents were alerted, and emergency crews conducted a thorough check of the area. Firefighters noted that the shed, which measured approximately 12 feet by 20 feet, was already on the ground by the time suppression efforts were fully underway. The radiant heat from the fire reportedly melted siding from a nearby home, though no additional structures were reported to have been significantly affected.

After approximately an hour of firefighting efforts, crews successfully extinguished the blaze. Fire officials later confirmed that no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have canceled the need for further involvement from the state fire marshal.

Local residents are encouraged to exercise caution and report any unusual fire hazards as authorities continue monitoring conditions in the area.
