WALDORF, Md. โ A 60-year-old man was airlifted to MedStar Trauma Center Saturday morning after a vehicle accident on Berry Road that saw his condition rapidly deteriorate from conscious to unconscious during emergency response. The incident prompted a helicopter evacuation and extensive emergency resources to the scene.
The Waldorf vehicle crash occurred around 7:26 a.m. on September 27, 2025, at 10965 Berry Road. , the vehicle went into a roadside ditch with the male driver found outside the vehicle rolling around on the ground and yelling. Initially, the man was conscious.
Emergency Medical Services first classified the incident as requiring Basic Life Support but quickly upgraded to Advanced Life Support as the situation developed.
Approximately 25 minutes after the initial response, emergency crews requested helicopter transport when the 60-year-old man was reported to have became unconscious. Additionally, the incident was reclassified as Category A Priority 1, indicating life-threatening injuries requiring immediate advanced medical intervention. The rapid deterioration from conscious to unconscious prompted the urgent helicopter response.
Multiple emergency units contributed extensive resources to the The Waldorf vehicle crash. Meanwhile, working systematically to stabilize the patient. Eagle 1 helicopter responded with a 17-minute estimated arrival time to transport the critical patient.
Emergency crews established a helicopter landing zone at 2820 Jenifer School Lane to facilitate the medical evacuation. Subsequently, the helicopter successfully transported the victim to MedStar Trauma Center with Priority 1 status around 8:27 a.m.
The victim’s current condition has not been officially released by hospital authorities. The cause of the Berry Road vehicle accident remains under investigation.
