WALDORF, Md. — Young entrepreneurs will take over the Shops at Waldorf Center on Saturday, Aug. 15, for an afternoon filled with business pitches, family fun and a growing grand prize now reaching $3,500.
The 7th Annual Youth Shark Tank Kidpreneur Competition & Family Fun Festival will run from 1 to 5 p.m. and is designed to give young business owners a chance to sell their products, meet customers and show the community what they have created.
Hosted by the Shops at Waldorf Center, the event blends a youth vendor market with a Shark Tank-style pitch competition and plenty of activities for families to enjoy along the way.
Young vendors can set up shop during the event and, if they choose, step in front of a panel of judges to pitch their business ideas for a chance to win the growing grand prize. Thanks to support from community sponsors, the first-place prize has climbed to $3,500.
There is plenty happening beyond the competition, too. Families can expect free face painting, a petting zoo, crafts, inflatable games, back-to-school giveaways, food trucks, a character mob and a dunk tank.
The mix makes the event part business showcase, part community festival and part chance for local families to cheer on the next generation of entrepreneurs.
A Chance To Shop Small — Really Small
The youth vendor market gives kids and teens a chance to experience what it is like to run a business in front of real customers. Visitors can browse the booths, meet the young entrepreneurs behind the products and support their ideas by shopping directly from them.
For those ready to take their business to the next level, the optional pitch competition gives youth vendors a chance to explain their business, share their goals and compete for the grand prize. Community sponsorships continue to help grow the prize money and support the young entrepreneurs taking part.
The 7th Annual Youth Shark Tank Kidpreneur Competition & Family Fun Festival will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Shops at Waldorf Center, 2983 Festival Way in Waldorf.
