CALIFORNIA, Md. — A 38-year-old Lusby man who worked as a Spark delivery driver is facing theft charges after he allegedly used his position to steal merchandise from the California Walmart, including two failed attempts to steal the same Apple MacBook in a single night.
The incidents began on June 7, 2025, when Alnutt Levis Chase III entered the store to pick up a customer’s order. According to the statement of probable cause, while gathering the order, Chase concealed a $649 MacBook and attempted to leave. A vigilant Walmart employee reviewed the order, realized the laptop was not part of it and retrieved the MacBook before Chase could exit the store.
Approximately 90 minutes later, Chase returned for another customer’s order. He again allegedly took the same MacBook, this time concealing it in a towel and attempting to pay only for the towel. The same employee checked his items and once again took possession of the MacBook.
Charging documents state that Chase returned to the store a week later, on June 13, 2025. While collecting another order, he allegedly concealed a $149 Ninja Kitchen System under dog food belonging to the customer. This time, he successfully passed all points of sale without paying for the concealed item and fled the scene.
Investigators easily identified Chase because his personal information, including his photograph, was on file with the Spark delivery service.
Chase was charged via a criminal summons issued on Aug. 6, 2025, with two misdemeanor counts of attempted theft and one misdemeanor count of theft, each valued between $100 and $1,500. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of up to six months in jail and a $500 fine. A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2025.
