• D.C. Public Schools Day: The Nationals are excited to celebrate D.C. Public Schools students, teachers and administrators with DCPS Day. The Nationals have donated tickets to DCPS and will recognize the school system in pregame ceremonies, including a first pitch by new DCPS Chancellor Antwan Wilson, lineup card delivery by “DCPS Standing Ovation Principal of the Year” Anita Berger and the participation of students from schools across the city.

• STEM Showcase: In March, the Washington Nationals partnered with DCPS to bring 30 elementary school teachers from all eight wards to Nationals Park for a special STEM training on the science of baseball. These teachers have spent the last two months working with their students to create hundreds of projects covering everything from optimal launch angles for home runs and base running to elasticity and stadium design. More than 100 baseball-themed student projects will be on display in the Family Picnic Area before first pitch.

The giveaway features floating K’s rather than snowflakes, in honor of Scherzer winning the 2016 National League Cy Young Award and leading the league in strikeouts last season. • Federal Workforce Day Presented by Kaiser Permanente: The Nationals are proud to recognize our federal workforce during Thursday’s game. Finalists for the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals—also known as “The Sammies”—will be recognized in a special pregame presentation in honor of their dedication to public service. The Nationals will also welcome top-level government officials to help celebrate our federal workforce, as VA Secretary David Shulkin and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney will participate in pregame ceremonies. • K Street Section: After a successful April debut, the new superfan section at Nationals Park, the K Street Section, returns for the second time this season. • Ward 3 Night: Each season the Nationals donate tickets to D.C. residents through the D.C. City Council. On Friday, the Nationals will celebrate the residents of Ward 3. A special recognition of Ward 3 Council Member Mary Cheh will take place during pregame ceremonies to recognize her work on behalf of her constituents and the city as a whole.

• Anthony’s Academy All-Stars: Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon will host a group of scholar-athletes from the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy – where Anthony sits on the Board of Directors – at Nationals Park to learn about the opportunities that exist in baseball both on and off the field. • STAR WARS™ Day: May the force be with you! STAR WARS™ Day returns to Nationals Park for the third consecutive season. The first 25,000 fans who enter the ballpark through ALL GATES will receive a Chewbacca Koozie, STAR WARS™ characters will be roaming the concourse to take pictures with fans, and DJ Stylus Chris will be playing STAR WARS™-themed music in Center Field Plaza beginning at 2 p.m. Special menu items for the game include the Empire Strikes Back Burger at Taste of the Majors (Sections 116 and 314) and the Luke Frywalker at grill stands throughout the ballpark. Fans are all invited to come dressed as their favorite character, however any props resembling weapons will not be allowed into the ballpark. Adults are not allowed to wear masks that cover their face, however young children under the age of 10 may wear masks if accompanied by an adult over 21 years old. • Patriotic Series Presented by SAIC – Memorial Day Observance:In honor of our nation’s fallen service members and their families, the Nationals will host the second game of the 2017 Patriotic Series presented by SAIC on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. The pregame ceremony will include the ceremonial first pitch thrown by World War II veteran Peter DuPre and game ball delivery by World War II veteran Daniel Lane. Families of America’s fallen heroes from TAPS, the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, will also serve as Anthem Buddies for the game. The remaining games of the Patriotic Series include Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4 against the New York Mets and Heroes Day on Sunday, September 10 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
