East Prince Frederick Elevated Storage Tank
East Prince Frederick Elevated Storage Tank

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – The Calvert County Department of Public Works, Water & Sewerage Division, announces a contractor crew will begin painting and cleaning water towers throughout the county.  Beginning today, the Marley Run water tower will be drained and a temporary tank will be installed to allow for interior cleaning and pressure washing of the exterior.

The water tower is scheduled to be out of service for 21 days. However, there is little impact expected on customers as water supply will continue through use of a temporary tank.

Calvert County fire departments will not be able to draw water from the water tower during this time; a service ring will be placed on any fire hydrants affected by the work.  In the event of a fire emergency, fire departments will bring in water from other areas.

Maintaining and painting water tanks is essential to prevent corrosion, extend the tank’s lifespan and maintain water quality.  For any questions, please contact the Water and Sewer Division at 410-535-1600, ext. 2329.
