LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A West Virginia man has been indicted by a St. Mary’s County grand jury on charges that include second-degree assault and fourth-degree sexual offense involving a minor, according to court records. Collin Andrew Hixson, 34, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, was indicted Aug. 11 on multiple charges stemming from an alleged May 23 incident in Mechanicsville.
The grand jury indictment charges Hixson with second-degree assault and fourth-degree sexual offense for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a minor victim without consent. The charges also include sexual abuse of a minor by a household or family member.
Judge Joseph Michael Stanalonis issued an arrest warrant the same day as the indictment. Court records show Hixson was arrested and served with the warrant on Sept. 1. He appeared for a bail review hearing on Sept. 2 before Judge Stanalonis.
Under Maryland law, second-degree assault is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine. Fourth-degree sexual offense carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine. The sexual abuse of a minor charge is classified as a felony with enhanced penalties when it involves a household or family member.
Judge Amy Lorenzini is presiding over the case. A jury trial is scheduled for Dec. 15-19, 2025, in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court, with a status hearing set for Oct. 31 before Judge Stanalonis.
