At 2:30 a.m. Feb. 8, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to Old Bayside Road and E Street in Chesapeake Beach for the report of a serious motor vehicle crash.
Upon their arrival it was discovered that a 2002 Ford Mustang, operated by the victim, Theresa Mae Valentine, 46 of Chesapeake Beach, had left the roadway for an unknown reason.
The vehicle struck a tree and caused Valentine to become trapped inside the vehicle. The right front seat passenger, James Matthew Colton, 35 of Rosehaven, was ejected through the front windshield.
Both Valentine and Colton were flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center due to their injuries.
At 10:20 a.m. Feb. 21, Valentine died from the injuries she suffered in the crash.
At this time it is unknown why the vehicle left the roadway. The investigation is on-going by the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
