PASADENA, Md. – Authorities recovered the body of a 25-year-old woman after her boat was found adrift and empty in the Magothy River, not far from the busy sandbar at Dobbins Island.

Maryland Natural Resources Police and emergency personnel were called to the scene late Thursday morning, June 26, 2025, following reports of a missing person last seen operating a boat the night before. The vessel was discovered anchored between Gibson Island and Dobbins Island, with personal items still on board but no sign of its operator.

A search effort quickly mobilized, involving Anne Arundel County’s rescue teams. The woman’s body was later located in the water near the boat’s anchor line.

Officials have not released her name and say the cause of death is still under investigation.

Police are now seeking help from the public, asking anyone who observed boating activity in the area Wednesday evening to contact NRP at 410-260-8888.
