
UPDATE: Young Mother Killed In Domestic Assault, Suspect Dead From Self-Inflicted Gunshot
UPDATE: 1:00 p.m. – The 25-year-old female victim was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The male suspect was transported from the scene to an area trauma center with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound shot wound. Currently, there is no word on his condition. No Law Enforcement Officers fired their weapons. Additional details will follow as available.
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A woman was shot Wednesday morning in Lexington Park, leading to a police chase that ended with a male suspect in custody, authorities said.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 46000 block of Rosewood Drive on October 16, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Deputies found a woman with gunshot wounds and immediately began life-saving measures.
The suspect fled the scene, prompting a pursuit that stretched from Lexington Park to Hughesville, where the individual was apprehended and received medical care. Officials describe the incident as isolated but have not released details about the victim’s condition or the suspect’s identity.
“This appears to be an isolated incident,” said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office. “We ask the public to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicles safe access.”
