During the first week of September, 169 letters were mailed out to Calvert County residents with outstanding child support warrants.
The letter advised those with warrants the matter needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. The Calvert County Sheriffโs Office is giving the suspects the option to turn themselves in before the week of Oct. 2. Arrests may still be made prior to this week.
The Sheriffโs Office has made arrangements with the Stateโs Attorneyโs office, Bureau of Support Enforcement and judges to be available that week for anyone who chooses to take advantage of this opportunity.
โThis yearโs sweep will be as intense as last year. I will use every means possible to make this as successful as it has been in the past,โ Sheriff Mike Evans said. โThe holidays are approaching fast and with our efforts we can make the holidays brighter for some families.โ
