LA PLATA, Md. — An 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a rollover crash shut down part of Oliver Shop Road in La Plata.
The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2026, at the intersection of Oliver Shop Road and Tawny Acres Place. Emergency crews were dispatched after multiple 911 callers reported a vehicle that had left the roadway, overturned, and was smoking, with airbags deployed.
Witnesses told dispatchers they saw the car veer off the road and flip. The driver was able to exit the vehicle on her own and was found next to the vehicle when first responders arrived. Officials later confirmed she was the sole occupant.
Police temporarily closed Oliver Shop Road at Wheatley Road as emergency personnel worked to secure the scene and remove the overturned vehicle.
The woman was transported to UM Charles Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
