MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Friends, family and coworkers are rallying around the loved ones of Mark “Vinnie” Vincent Wroble Jr. after the Mechanicsville husband and father died Sunday from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Newburg.
Wroble, 32, was critically injured in a Nov. 15 collision at U.S. Route 301 and Maryland Route 234 and died the following evening at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., according to Maryland State Police. Several others were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
As his family grieves, the community is turning its focus to supporting his wife and two young daughters.
A GoFundMe campaign titled “Support Vinnie Wroble’s Family in Their Time of Loss” had raised $19,485 toward a $28,000 goal from 109 donations as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the fundraiser page. The fundraiser aims to help provide long-term financial support for his daughters, Blayke and Bristol, and ease expenses in the months ahead.
Wroble was remembered as a devoted family man, loyal friend and the person everyone called when something needed to be fixed.
Born March 27, 1993, in La Plata, he graduated from Chopticon High School in 2011 and worked as an automotive painter at Passport Collision. Outside the shop, he was known for pitching in wherever he was needed — the one who stayed on a project until it was done “perfectly,” loved ones said.
He especially cherished time at home in Mechanicsville with his wife, Lindsey, their daughters and the family’s Basset hound, Copper. Racing weekends and NASCAR trips with his brother and friends were some of his favorite traditions, and he was an avid supporter of driver Ryan Blaney.
Wroble’s family said his taste in music was just as memorable: he was a huge Reba McEntire fan, and “Fancy” was his must-play song — the kind you didn’t dare turn off if it came on the radio.
He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Wroble of Mechanicsville; daughters, Blayke and Bristol Wroble of Mechanicsville; his parents, Mark and Cynthia Wroble of Mechanicsville; brother, Michael “Bam” Wroble of Mechanicsville; and sister, Amber Wroble of Mechanicsville.
He is also survived by grandparents Bill and Susan Wroble of Indian Head; mother-in-law Melissa Molvin of Mechanicsville; sister-in-law Haley Berry of Newport News, Va.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who knew him as “Vinnie.”
Family members said the loss is compounded by the number of loved ones who went before him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother “Nana” Marie Barton; grandfathers “Pop-Pop” Gene and Grover; aunt Jenny Brand; cousin Bobby Bowie; great-grandfather Stanley Wroble; grandmother-in-law Brenda Dodd (“Nannie”); step-grandfather-in-law Dennis Dodd (“Pop Pop”); and grandfathers-in-law John Molvin (“PaPa”) and Clifford Berry (“Pap-Pap”).
Plans for a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking the community to consider contributing toward future savings for Wroble’s daughters through the online fundraiser. Organizers say any amount — whether from neighbors, coworkers or strangers who simply want to help — will make a difference for the young family he leaves behind.
