On Sept. 4, 2005, Tpr. K. Shughart of the Leonardtown barrack started an investigation into the theft of several items from boats docked at Phil’s Marina in Ridge.
On Feb. 26, a suspect was identified. A consent search of the suspect’s boat was conducted and several of the stolen items were located and recovered.
A smoking device and a container containing marijuana were also located. The suspect, Joseph Donald Thompson Jr., 32, of Ridge, was charged with two counts of First Degree Burglary, two counts of Third Degree Burglary, two counts of Fourth Degree Burglary, Theft over $500, Theft under $500, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.
Thompson was served with a Bench Warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to charges of possession of CDS and driving while suspended. Thompson was held at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bail review.
