A physical oddity occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Route 4 and 235 in California.
A Honda Accord and a Ford SUV were involved in a low-speed crash, which left minimal damage on both vehicles, but caused a Honda to flip onto its top.
A mother and child were in the car, and both were reportedly restrained. They were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance for minor injuries and evaluation.
The Honda driver was walking and talking at the scene, and the child was conscious and alert while being loaded onto a stretcher. The driver of the SUV was issued citations.
The mechanics of how the flip occurred puzzled responders on the scene. The SUV driver appeared to have pulled into the path of the Honda, causing it to capsize.
