Alleged Assault With A Cooked Turkey: Waldorf Man Indicted In Lexington Park Incident

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A St. Mary’s County grand jury has returned an indictment charging a local man with first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault following an alleged violent encounter in early December 2024. The defendant, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Lawrence Robinson of Waldorf, now faces serious legal consequences for acts that prosecutors contend were both brutal and unprovoked.

According to the indictment, the incident occurred on December 3, 2024, at a residence on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, Maryland. Investigators say Robinson committed first-degree assault by strangulation, a felony offense under Maryland law that carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison if convicted. Additionally, he is charged with two counts of second-degree assault for allegedly striking the victim in the face and, in a separate act, throwing a cooked turkey at the victim. Each second-degree assault conviction can result in up to 10 years in prison and/or a $2,500 fine.

Court records indicate that the case will proceed through the St. Mary’s County Circuit Court system, with the State’s Attorney’s Office represented by Assistant State’s Attorney Zachary Varda. Scheduling information shows a series of pretrial hearings and a jury trial set for the spring of 2025.

An arrest warrant was issued for Robinson at the time of the indictment, and he underwent a bail review hearing on December 18, 2024. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. If found guilty of the charges, the penalties for first-degree assault and second-degree assault counts would reflect Maryland’s stringent legal stance against violent acts.
