As part of the Alternative Learning Centerโ€™s (ALC) move to the Annex on Great Mills Road, the Board of Education approved the renaming of the facility as the White Oak Secondary Center during its meeting of July 12.

After considering several names, a naming committee recommended White Oak Secondary Center because the white oak tree is the Maryland state tree and represents strength and endurance.ย  According to Principal Marcie Hough, staff and students are excited about the name and are looking forward to having a school identity.

Although the White Oak Secondary Center is located on Great Mills Road, south of Great Mills High School, its mailing address is 20833 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653.ย  White Oak Secondary Centerโ€™s staff can be reached at 301-863-4090.ย  The center will be operational in its new location when classes begin for students on Wednesday, August 23, 2006.
