PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Two people have been arrested and charged for their role in a recent string of thefts across Calvert County.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 9, employees at the TJ Maxx store in Prince Frederick said that they observed two black males acting suspicious in the store. After watching the men leave the store, the employees had reasonable suspicion from checking inventory that the men had stolen clothing items from the store.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office(CCSO) were called to the scene soon after, where they conducted a traffic stop on that vehicle for a vehicle maintenance issue. Inside the vehicle were three passengers, two of which were later identified as Harry Lewis Williams, 54 of Bowie, and Angus Winston Mackall, 52 of Brandywine. Mackall originally presented a fake name to the officer.

Officers were able to observe the reportedly stolen merchandise with tags on it in plain sight inside the vehicle. They also identified drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, CCSO determined that the two men had been involved in other reported robberies, including another incident of shoplifting from the Walmart in Prince Frederick not too long ago.

In total, a CCSO spokesperson said that over $1,800 in stolen clothing and fragrance items were recovered. Both were charged with a theft scheme of under $25,000, and Mackall was also charged with fraud for presenting a false name to the police.

We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
