Chesapeake Beach, MD – The amplified sounds of the 1970s rocked again at the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spaโs outdoor stage Sunday, Aug. 23. The Baltimore-based classic rock group Great Train Robbery presented the eraโs best and most enduring music during a four-hour show.
While their live shows have been mostly confined to East Coast towns like Ocean City, Dundalk, Aberdeen and Tilghman Island and venues like bikersโ festivals, American Legions and taverns, GTR also has the ears of international radio listeners.ย Several of their original tracks are currently receiving airplay in Europe.
While the band performed some of their original tunes, a balance of their performance brought the receptive Chesapeake Beach audience back to the buzz that was the 1970s. Great Train Robbery covered the familiar songs of Credence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf, Grand Funk Railroad and Bachman Turner Overdrive. The group also moved outside the chronology lines with the 1960s Rolling Stones classic Honky Tonk Woman and some 1980s hits by John Mellencamp.
It all made for a great time for the patrons seeking sunshine and fun on a Sunday evening on the Chesapeake Bay.
More powerful than a locomotive, GTR was back on the road and in a few weeks theyโll be playing the Maryland State Fair in Timonium.
Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spaโs 2015 Rock the Dock season continues with nightly shows, including the classic bluegrass group Seldom Scene Wednesday, Aug. 26, the Jimmy Buffett tribute band Sons of Pirates Thursday, Aug. 27 and a Bon Jovi tribute band Slippery When Wet Thursday, Sept. 3.
