On May 3rd 2026, Ben Edgar Gibson passed away peacefully in his home. Born January 16th 1931, he was the beloved son of Frank Gibson and Willie Mae Willett.
Ben proudly served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He started his career with C&P Telephone Company and ended retiring from AT&T at the end of 1985.
In 1956, he met Helen Petrella on a blind date, and they were married on September 14, 1957. They had 3 children, Jeffrey Gibson of Huntingtown, MD, Thomas Gibson of St. Leonard, MD, and Julie Gibson of King George, VA.
Ben was an avid sports fan; he loved the Washington Redskins and was a season ticket holder for many years. The Washington Nationals and especially his Georgia Bulldogs. His passion was golfing and attending “The Masters Golf Tournament.” When he no longer could attend, he had the traditional Masters food shipped up from Augusta National so he could watch and virtually be there.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Frank Gibson. He is survived by his wife Helen, his children,8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
