LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Antonio Gross, 35, of Washington, D.C., was arrested on Sept. 18, 2025, for burglary in the fourth degree after allegedly attempting to break into an occupied residence in St. Mary’s County. According to police records, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO) responded to a report of a burglary in progress after a homeowner reported that an unknown man was trying to enter her residence.
According to court documents, the victim told dispatchers she was armed with a knife to protect herself as the suspect allegedly banged on her doors and tried to turn the doorknob. When deputies arrived, they found a man lying in front of the door outside the residence. Police records indicate the suspect, later identified as Gross, appeared to be under the influence and had a white powdery substance on his clothing that matched the color of the door.
Police reports show Gross reportedly denied attempting to enter the residence when questioned by deputies. The victim, however, told investigators the man persistently banged on her door and allegedly tried to gain entry.
According to court documents, Gross has a prior case in St. Mary’s County. In May 2025, he was charged with second-degree assault, theft under $100, and possession of a dangerous concealed weapon. Those charges remain unrelated to the current incident.
Gross was released on his own recognizance with no bond on Sept. 19, 2025. His trial officer scheduling hearing is set for Nov. 4, 2025. If convicted of fourth-degree burglary, Gross could face up to three years in prison and a $500 fine under Maryland law.
