
SOLOMONS, Md. – June brings an exciting lineup of events to the Calvert Marine Museum, highlighted by the high-energy ALMOST QUEEN concert with Separate Ways The Band on June 13 and the museum’s new Shell-A-Bration event celebrating National Seashell Day on June 20. From live music and on-the-water adventures to hands-on family programs and seasonal experiences, visitors of all ages will enjoy exploring the museum. Select Dates in June – Lore Oyster House
Explore the newly refurbished 1934 seafood packing house, located 0.6 miles south of the main campus on Solomons Island Road. Exhibits highlight oyster harvesting and processing in Southern Maryland. Free admission. See website for dates and hours.
Wednesdays through Sundays in June – Wm. B. Tennison Public Cruise | 2 p.m.
Enjoy a one-hour cruise aboard the historic Wm. B. Tennison. Capacity is 40 passengers; if full, a 3:10 p.m. cruise will run with a minimum of eight passengers.
$9 adults; $5 children (ages 0–12).
Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in June – Cove Point Lighthouse | 1–4 p.m.
Visit the grounds and Visitors Center to learn about the Chesapeake Bay’s oldest continuously operating lighthouse and enjoy views of the Calvert Cliffs. Free admission. No beach access.
Thursdays, June 4 & 11 – Sea Squirts | 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.
This month’s theme is Mamas & Babies of the Bay. Children 18 months to 3 years, with an adult, are invited to discover the museum together through music, stories, and special activities. Friday, June 5 – First Fossil Friday! | 1–4:30 p.m.
Fossil hunters, bring your fossil finds from Calvert Cliffs or other local areas to be identified! This service is provided for free; however, admission fees apply for access to CMM exhibits.
Sundays, June 7, 14, 21 & 28 – Beyond the Displays: Artifact Stories | 1:30–2:30 p.m.
Join museum educator Lori to explore the museum’s artifacts, uncovering their origins and significance. Hear how World War II shaped Solomons and discover hidden details in the museum murals. Learn something new every tour. Included with museum admission.
Friday, June 13 – ALMOST QUEEN with SEPARATE WAYS: A TRIBUTE NIGHT 7 p.m.
ALMOST QUEEN: A TRIBUTE to QUEEN recreates the legendary band’s sound and spectacle with remarkable precision. Known for their powerful four-part harmonies, authentic costumes, and high-energy performances, the band delivers fan favorites including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions,” and “Somebody to Love.” Joined by SEPARATE WAYS THE BAND – The Ultimate Journey Tribute Band for a special night celebrating the enduring power of classic rock. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with food and beverage vendors onsite. The Calvert Marine Museum and Museum Store close at 3 p.m. for concert preparations. Tickets are $40 (all-in pricing). Celebrate National Seashell Day at the museum with a special Shell-A-Bration of our new fossil seashell collection. Explore stunning fossil shells from the museum’s newest collection, meet paleo volunteers, and enjoy hands-on learning activities, crafts, and coloring sheets for all ages. Discover the fascinating world of ancient mollusks through interactive stations including Life of the Mollusk, Rock E Fella, and the Fossil Shell Cart. Included with museum admission.

Saturday, June 20 – Dee of St. Mary’s Dockside Tours | Noon–4 p.m.
Step aboard the museum’s skipjack for an up-close tour with crew members on her 56 ft. deck. Learn how watermen dredge for oysters, hoist the sails, and navigate the waterways of the Chesapeake. Included with museum admission
Saturday, June 20 – Toy Boat Building | 1–4 p.m.
Make a toy boat from wood! Space and materials are limited. Visitors will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. For ages 5 and older. Museum admission applies; in addition, a donation of $2 per boat is requested.
Sunday, June 21 – Father’s Day Evening Cruise | 4:30–6 p.m.
Treat Dad or your “special” someone to an evening cruise on Father’s Day. Relax together and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Solomons Harbor and Patuxent River aboard the Wm. B. Tennison. Heavy hors d’oeuvre and a special dessert will be served. Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages; water, tea and lemonade will be provided. Tuesday, June 30 – Museum Store Closed for Inventory
The Museum Store will be closed on Tuesday, June 30, to process inventory. The Museum Store will open again on July 1 at 10:15 a.m.

The Calvert Marine Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors, military, and veterans with valid ID, AAA and AARP members, $6 for children ages 5 – 12, children under 5 and museum members are admitted free.
