On June 8 at approximately 1:02 p.m., members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police were dispatched to the Lower Marlboro area for a firearms complaint.
Upon their arrival they discovered an armed subject in the woods holding a gun. After lengthy negotiations, the subject failed to disarm himself. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team was then dispatched to the scene.
During an attempt to disarm the subject, the subject pointed the gun at one of the SOT members. The officer fired his weapon in self defense, striking the subject in his left arm.
The 63-year-old Lower Marlboro man was transported via Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince Georges County Hospital. The incident is being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigative Team.
