GREAT MILLS, Md. – Emergency crews responded Sunday afternoon to Living Hope First United Pentecostal Church on Chancellors Run Road after a four‑year‑old girl was struck by a church van in the parking area.
The Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, along with St. Mary’s County EMS, were dispatched at 12:58 p.m. on March 8, for reports of a pedestrian struck. Responders arrived to find the child had been struck by the vehicle. Firefighters and paramedics provided immediate medical care on scene and initiated pediatric trauma protocols.
Due to the severity of the child’s injuries, air‑medical support was requested. Fire and EMS personnel established a landing zone at Chancellors Run Park, located at 21905 Chancellors Run Road, where crews secured the field, coordinated with the incoming aircraft and continued advanced care. The injured child was transported to Children’s National Medical Center.
No additional injuries were reported. The incident occurred near the intersection of Cross Access and Rutherford Boulevard.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review by local authorities.
