Great Mills, MD –ย St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Bowie responded to Castle Pollard Way in Great Mills after an altercation occurred between a woman and her live-in boyfriend, July 5.

When theย officer arrived on the scene contact was made with the alleged victim and her live-in boyfriend, Calvin M. Douglas, 31 of St. Inigoes.

The alleged victim advised, “that they were arguing about cigarettes earlier in the day,” according to charging documents.

The alleged victim stated she walked out to the driveway, and Douglas punched her in the left side of her mouth, the charging document reads in part.

Both parties returned to the residence and continued to argue throughout the day until Douglas became aggravated and knocked over a cup of juice that spilled onto the alleged victim and children in the home.

The alleged victim then called the police, according to charging documents.

The officer wrote in the charging documents that he observed a red and bruised lip on the left side of the alleged victim’s mouth.

The alleged victim advised that she did not want the Douglas charged and did not initially call until the juice incident occurred.

Douglas said he did not punch the alleged victim. Douglas was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was charged with second-degree assault.

Douglas has a scheduled hearing Aug. 25 in District Court. Douglas faces a maximum jails sentence of 10 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
