Debbie Brown, 71, of Charlotte Hall, MD, passed away in peace, with her husband Tommy at her bedside, on the early morning of April 27, 2026, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. As a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland, she lived most of her youth in Hughesville, MD, and then her forever home in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, with her husband Tommy, son Tom, and her most recent cat Clyde, just a few miles from her birthplace. Debbie was a 1973 graduate of Thomas Stone High School.
Debbie was a simple person, loving and caring to all that met her. She truly loved and cherished her son Tom, her two sweetest blessings, granddaughters Ashleigh and Maddie, of whom โGrammyโ was the most proudest of! Debbie truly loved her various cats, especially her most recent, Clyde. The simple things that Debbie enjoyed were her swimming pool, where she would float for hours after her work day at The Southern Maryland Association of Realtors, where she worked for over thirty years. She took great pleasure driving her red Mustang convertible, with the top down, hair in the wind, and particularly if Maddie and/or Ashleigh would be riding shotgun on the back roads of St. Mary’s and Charles County. Debbie was a proud member of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department, where she became one of the first EMT’s in Southern Maryland along with friend Myrtle Quade. It was here, as a member of the HVFD, that she met the love of her life, “The Town Clown” Tommy Brown. Debbie and Tommy were wed on April 1, 1978, and had just celebrated 48 years of beautiful love just days before her sudden illness, on April 4, 2026. They had a wonderful fairytale life together!
Debbie had a truly special relationship with her blessed friend Gail, whom she had known for over 56 years. Gail and her sister Terri “Sissy” formed what they call “The Turquoise Sisterhood”. Four or five times a year, especially after Terri retired, they would go to one of their homes or to Tequila Grill for lunch. They would dress up in various turquoise clothes and jewelry, and exchange funny turquoise gag gifts with each other. They laughed and carried on like three 16-year-old teenage school girls. Again, simple things! Debbie was preceded in death by her older sister, Elaine Moffett, her dad, Bill Moran, and her “twin”, mom Jean Moran.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband Tommy, her beloved son, Tom, her precious granddaughters Ashleigh Brown and Maddie Brown, her older brother Mike Moran, her deceased sister Elaine’s surviving husband Danny, niece Jenny and husband James Harrison Herridge and daughters Anna and Ellen, her “Sissy” Terri and husband Tony Rose, her “Weekend Daughter” Mel and husband Keith and daughters Emily, Alissa, and Liv, and son Tony Jr., granddaughter Jackie and grandson Trey, her younger brother Scott and wife Teresa Moran and daughters Bethany and Emily, Brother-In-Law Donnie and Debbie 2 and niece Allison, husband Jim and son Harvey and deceased nephew Ryan.
