A forum on Development Review-Streamlining will be conducted on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Commissionersโ Meeting Room on the first floor of the Chesapeake Building on the Governmental Complex, Leonardtown.
ย
A discussion panel representing the major development review agencies has been created to replace the former Development Review Forum, which had convened monthly since 1995 until its disbandment earlier this year. This panel is intended as a transition from the Development Review Forum into a more open-ended discussion group that is easily accessible to the development community.
ย
The development and related industries are beset by unprecedented forces (increasingly stringent state and federal laws, depressed sales market and economy, lending issues) thus making the streamlining of the development review process imperative.
ย
A number of recommendations have been recently presented to the County Commissioners including concepts such as the elimination of non-mandatory meetings, establishment of certainty in the review turn-around time, delegation of authority to staff, and the consolidation of services, all of which may enhance streamlining and efficiency in the review process for subdivisions, site plans or building permits.
ย
The public is welcome to attend and share their thoughts.
