ย The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office has arrested Nicholas Andre Goolsby, 26, of Washington, D.C., for his role in the robbery of a Wachovia Bank last May.

ย On May 7 at 9:10 a.m., Sheriffโ€™s officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the bank, located at 3050 Waldorf Market Place in Waldorf, for the report of an armed robbery.

ย Investigation revealed three male suspects entered the bank armed with a shotgun and two handguns and ordered the victims to the floor. During the robbery, the suspects fired their weapons but no one was injured.

ย The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money to their stolen Dodge Caravan in the parking lot. After entering the vehicle, a dye pack with a chemical irritant exploded. The suspects discarded the bag of money in the bank parking lot before driving away.

ย Officers found the Caravan unoccupied in a nearby neighborhood but the suspects were not located.
Forensic science technicians discovered DNA evidence in the van which was later found to match Goolsbyโ€™s DNA.

ย A warrant for Goolsbyโ€™s arrest was issued on Nov. 9 but at the time, Goolsby was already incarcerated in West Virginia on unrelated charges. On Feb. 26, Goolsby was extradited to Charles County, where the warrant for the bank robbery was served.

ย The warrant charges Goolsby with armed robbery. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond.

ย The other suspects have not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. G. Higgs at 301-609-6498. Those with information may also call Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment and all callers remain anonymous.
