ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. — A Severn man has been indicted on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, following an investigation into a fatal shooting tied to an alleged drug-related robbery.

Authorities arrested Francis Balla Koroma Jr., 20, on Feb. 4, 2025, after linking him to the Aug. 21, 2022, shooting death of Naim Addison in Severn, Maryland.

According to charging documents, Addison was found shot in the head inside a gray Honda Civic that had collided with a tree. He was pronounced dead at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, prompting a homicide investigation.

Investigation and Arrest

Detectives determined that Addison and his brother had traveled to the area to conduct a drug transaction. Witness testimony and social media records indicate that Koroma, along with another suspect, lured Addison to the location under the pretense of buying marijuana.

As Addison counted the money given to him for the sale, additional individuals, including at least one armed suspect, approached the vehicle from behind. When Addison attempted to flee, he was shot in the head.

Security footage from the area captured a suspect believed to be Koroma loitering near the crime scene before the shooting. Investigators also recovered a water bottle from the scene, which was later matched to Koroma’s DNA.

A confidential source informed police that Koroma and an associate had planned to rob Addison under the guise of a drug transaction. The source, who was present at the time of the crime, stated that after the shooting, Koroma and the associate were seen arguing over what had transpired.

Further evidence, including cell phone location data, placed Koroma at the crime scene at the time of the murder. He was taken into custody on Feb. 4, 2025, following an extensive investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Charges and legal proceedings

Koroma now faces charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, reckless endangerment, and additional offenses.

Following his arrest, Koroma was ordered held without bond by Judge Thomas V. Miller III after a bail review hearing on Feb. 5, 2025.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 5, 2025, at Anne Arundel County District Court in Annapolis.

Ongoing investigation

Authorities continue to investigate whether other individuals were involved in planning the fatal robbery.
