HOLLYWOOD, Md. — St. Mary’s County officials announced Sept. 5, 2025, that renovation work is underway on two tennis courts at Dorsey Park, with players expected to see a refreshed surface this fall.
The project is part of a $250,000 capital package approved by county commissioners in June, which also included upgrades to the basketball courts at Chancellors Run Regional Park. Of that amount, $225,000 comes from Maryland’s Program Open Space, with the county providing the remainder. Work at Dorsey includes milling, new asphalt, fencing upgrades, color coating, and fresh painted lines, according to Recreation and Parks officials.
The asphalt will require three to four weeks to set before temporary play can resume with fencing in place. Officials said the courts will then close again in late September or early October for the final color treatment and line work.
Weather permitting, the fully renovated courts are expected to reopen for regular play by early to mid-October.
