LA PLATA, Md. – On March 28, 2025, at approximately 1:59 am, officers were dispatched to a report of a subject with a handgun threatening to kill the caller. As officers approached, a silver in color Hyundai Tucson began to flee the scene.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the fleeing vehicle, which failed to stop, prompting officers to begin a pursuit. The pursuit ended when the vehicle struck stop sticks at the split for Route 301 and Route 5.
Officers apprehended the suspect and recovered a silver in color 9mm handgun with the serial number obliterated, and a black in color C11 BB gun.
The vehicle was towed pending a search warrant and the suspect was transported to the Charles County Detention Center for processing and charging.
The suspect was confirmed to be prohibited from possessing firearms.
