The old song “I Love a Parade” especially rings true at the St. Mary’s County Fair. Spectators line the midway to get a glimpse of the participants representing a cross section of St. Mary’s County life. There are politicians and elected officials, queens, high school marching bands, all kinds of vehicles including tractor and antique cars, community and equestrian groups, and of course the fire engines, old and new, from the volunteer departments.
MCs Henry Fowler, Jr. and Bill Mattingly kept things going. Before the parade entered the midway there was a performance from the Chopticon Peace Pipers. The parade anchored day three of the 67th Annual St. Mary’s County Fair.
