LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Lexington Park Library will host a high-energy Black History Month celebration featuring Grammy-nominated progressive hip-hop artist and multi-instrumentalist Christylez Bacon on Saturday, Feb. 7.
The free event is scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Meeting Rooms A and B at the library and is open to a wide range of age groups, including lower and upper elementary students, tweens, teens and adults.
Bacon’s performance blends rhyming, storytelling and call-and-response choruses with a mix of musical styles spanning jazz to hip-hop. Using instruments such as the djembe, acoustic guitar and human beatbox, Bacon delivers an interactive experience centered on cultural acceptance and unification.
The Black History Month program is presented in partnership with the NAACP St. Mary’s County Branch 7025 and the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions.
Registration is available through the Lexington Park Library, and attendees are encouraged to add the event to their calendars in advance.
