The National Weather Service of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Wednesday, July 9.

Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties could be affected.

A cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the region today and tonight. Some storms may become severe this afternoon across an area from Fredericksburg east across lower southern
Maryland. The primary threat from these storms would be damaging winds. These storms will also bring heavy rain which could lead to flash flooding.

In addition, a small craft advisory is in effect for the tidal Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay today and tonight.
