A large crowd attended the annual St. Maryโs County Department of Aging and Human Services Health Fair on Friday at a new venue this year. After being at the Hollywood firehouse the last few years, and the Loffler Senior Center before that, the fair this year moved to The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.
The highlight of the fair for many people is the easy opportunity to get a flu shot. At 1:30, two hours before closing, 175 people had availed themselves of the opportunity to get protected.
The fair also includes a number of health screenings, including skin cancer, hearing, height and weight, oral cancer, blood pressure, depression and bone density.
Many vendors were on hand to answer questions and to give out freebies, including the ever popular pens. There also was a fun Blackout Bingo in which fairgoers picked out dots at various vendors for c chance to win a prize.
