Saturday Nov. 7 from 6:30 to well after 10 p.m. people of all ages enjoyed the lively good music of Country Memories Band, face painting, for kids and adults, as well as balloon figures by Ming Diaz. There were some delicious finger foods and beverages for all tastes. The free event was sponsored by The Community Mediation Center of St. Maryโ€™s County.

The Center has done other fund-raising events but this Hoedown was very popular and the staff at the Center told TheBAYNET.com that it is hoped this will be the first of a series of annual Hoedowns.

This first Hoedown was well attended with residents of all ages, from four to 94, with the proceeds from all donations going to match grant funding for this great community non-profit organization. The Mediation Center is for anyone who has a dispute or conflict that needs to be resolved.

The Centerโ€™s confidential services are provided free and leave the people involved on both sides feeling satisfied that the outcome was fair for all parties.

At the event, the Country Memories Band donated an extra set of music for people to enjoy taking the scheduled event later into the evening then planned but everyone was happy to stay and enjoy. Dancers were treated to many types of dance styles, line dances, waltzes, the Texas two-step and the Pattycake Polka, introduced by Elgin Perry of Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance, where close to 50 people participated and had a great time.
