Hollywood Man Charged After DUI Crash Leads Deputies To Allegedly Discover Stolen Glock

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Hollywood man is facing multiple firearm charges after Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigating a suspected drunk driving crash allegedly discovered two loaded handguns, including one reported stolen from Charles County, along with multiple boxes of ammunition inside his SUV, according to court documents.

Tyrone Marcello Hurt, 50, of Hollywood, was charged in the District Court for Calvert County with two counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm, two counts of carrying a loaded handgun in a vehicle, two counts of transporting a handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of a stolen regulated firearm. Court records show the stolen firearm charge is a felony.

According to a statement of probable cause, deputies responded at approximately 11:41 p.m. on July 4, 2026, to the area of Kinsey Drive and southbound Route 4 in Prince Frederick for a reported property-damage crash. Deputies located a black 2013 Dodge Durango facing northbound in a wooded area off the roadway.

Investigators identified Hurt as the driver and reported he did not have his driver’s license in his possession. According to charging documents, Hurt was seated behind the wheel smoking a cigarette while searching through a backpack on his lap. Deputies alleged they immediately detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and observed that Hurt’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

After exiting the SUV, Hurt allegedly struggled to maintain his balance while walking. He told deputies he had consumed two Simply Spiked Lemonades during the afternoon and evening before the crash and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Court documents state deputies observed numerous clues of impairment during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk-and-Turn and One-Leg Stand tests. Hurt also refused to submit to a preliminary breath test at the roadside.

Deputies placed Hurt under arrest for driving under the influence and searched the vehicle. Investigators reported locating several unopened Simply Spiked Lemonade beverages inside and outside the SUV. After being transported to the sheriff’s office, Hurt agreed to an Intoximeter breath test, which allegedly produced a breath alcohol concentration of approximately 0.163—more than twice Maryland’s legal limit of 0.08.

According to the charging documents, deputies then discovered two loaded regulated handguns inside the same backpack Hurt had allegedly been handling when officers first contacted him. The first firearm was identified as a black Glock 36 chambered in .45 ACP with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine. Investigators determined the Glock had been reported stolen from Charles County in 2017, and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the firearm’s stolen status.

The second firearm was identified as a black Hi-Point C-9 9mm pistol containing one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine. Court documents state investigators also recovered multiple boxes of ammunition from a bag in the back seat, including .45-caliber, .380-caliber and 9mm ammunition.

Investigators further alleged Hurt was prohibited from possessing firearms and did not possess a Maryland handgun permit. According to the charging documents, authorities determined Hurt had two prior prohibiting offenses, including one from Charles County in 1995 and another from St. Mary’s County in 2021.

In addition to the firearm charges, deputies issued multiple traffic citations alleging Hurt drove under the influence of alcohol, drove while impaired by alcohol, failed to control his speed to avoid a collision, drove carelessly and imprudently, failed to display his driver’s license upon demand, failed to obey a traffic control device, drove right of center, and permitted the operation of a vehicle contrary to law.

District Court records show Hurt was held without bond following a bail review before Judge Michelle R. Saunders July 6, 2026. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 5, 2026, in the Calvert District Court.
