
HUNTINGTOWN, Md. – The cause of a house fire in Huntingtown on April 4, 2024, has been determined accidental, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
The fire was discovered by the owner of the two-story house in the 2300 block of Stella Drive. Fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene at approximately 1:11 p.m. and quickly advanced an attack line to the right side of the home to extinguish the fire in the basement. It took them about 30 minutes to control the fire. No injuries have been reported.
A total of 40 firefighters were present at the scene. The estimated loss from the fire is around $125,000.00 for the structure and $25,000.00 worth of contents. The smoke alarm in the house was present and activated during the incident.
The fire originated and was contained in the basement of the home.
