At 8:46 p.m. May 21, on Governor Run Road, in Port Republic, while assisting a motorist, TFC Slifer observed Matthew Aaron Robertson, 41, of Lusby, operating a motor vehicle on a revoked license.
TFC Slifer activated his lights and siren and followed the suspect to Parker’s Creek Road, where he finally stopped and exited the vehicle.
When TFC Slifer approached the vehicle, he observed Leona Charlene Hearn, 37, (Robertson’s wife) seated in the driver’s seat, with the motor running and her hands on the steering wheel. TFC Slifer also detected the strong odor of alcohol emitting from both subjects.
While trying to place Robertson under arrest, he attempted to strike TFC Slifer. A struggle ensued and both men fell to the ground.
At this time, Hearn exited the vehicle, kicked TFC Slifer, and attempted to hit him with her fist. After a 9-1-1 call by a passing motorist, several officers arrived on the scene and the wild couple was taken into custody.
Robertson was transported to CMH and treated for minor injuries he sustained in the struggle with TFC Slifer.
After his release, he was transported to the CCDC for processing and to await a commissioner’s hearing. Robertson was charged with assault, resisting arrest, and DUI.
Hearn was charged with assault, hindering, and DUI.
A secondary search of Ms. Hearn revealed a baggie of suspected marijuana on her person. She was then additionally charged with possession of marijuana.
After processing, she was also transported to the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.
