Lexington Park, MD— On Jan.19 St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Officeย Deputy Darrell Stewart responded to the 21000 block of Liberty Street in Lexington Park, for the report of a domestic assault in progress.
The victim alleged the suspect, Jarrett Lyle Davis, 28, of Lexington Park, pushed the victim during an argument and tried to strangle the victim.ย
According to charging documents, “When I (Stewart) made contact with the victim (wife) she was extremely emotional, she was crying and having difficulty controlling her breathing, on the verge of hyperventilating.”
“When the victim returned home, she (wife) alleged the defendant (husband) was intoxicatedย and began arguingย with her. The victim stated the argumentย soon escalated to a physical altercation with the defendant pushing her,” according to charging documents.ย
Charging documents state, “The victim was pushed down on a recliner, placing his hands on the victim’s throat and beginning to manually strangle the victim. The victim said she began gasping for breath and attempting to push the defendant off of her.”ย
The victim displayed injuries consistent with the allegations. Davis was arrested and transported to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center. He was charged with Second Degree Assault.ย
Davis at this time does not have a court date scheduled. Davis faces a maximum jail sentence of ten years and or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
